AI Engineering Intern

Agentic AI development & technical implementation

• Design, build, and evaluate agentic AI solutions (tool-using agents, multi-step reasoning pipelines, RAG systems) tailored to enterprise customer workflows.
• Build proof-of-concepts and MVPs leveraging both Needl.ai's internal AI tech stack and publicly available AI tools and frameworks.
• Develop and enhance AI-driven solutions in Python, including prompt engineering, agent orchestration, and integration with LLM APIs and MCP servers.
• Build and improve evaluation harnesses to measure agent reliability, accuracy, and performance on customer use cases.
• Assist in system integration and deployment on cloud platforms (Azure, AWS).
• Contribute to the internal knowledge base and engineering playbooks.
• Participate in cross-functional projects with product, engineering, and customer success teams.

Customer solution design, deployment & success

• Assist in client engagement and discovery
• Shadow Solutions Engineers and FDEs, participate in customer calls, and help analyze requirements to understand complex business workflows and knowledge-intensive processes.
• Contribute to solution design and prototyping
• Rapidly prototype agentic AI solutions using the internal tech stack, translating customer requirements into working agent workflows.
• Enable deployment and customer success
• Assist in solution implementation, monitoring, and post-deployment optimization, including tuning agent behavior and participating in customer success reviews.
• Drive documentation and feedback loops
• Create customer documentation, implementation guides, and best practices while collecting and analyzing feedback to inform product improvements.

Preferred qualifications

• Technical foundations
• Education: recent graduate (B.Tech/M.Tech or equivalent, CSE/EE/related) from a strong institution, or 1-2 years of relevant work experience.
• Programming proficiency: solid experience with Python (back-end). Working familiarity with front-end frameworks would be a plus.
• AI/ML knowledge: coursework, projects, or professional experience in machine learning, NLP, or AI fundamentals. Hands-on experience building with LLMs and generative AI tools (Claude, ChatGPT, GitHub Copilot) for rapid prototyping. Exposure to agentic concepts (tool calling, RAG, agent orchestration frameworks) is a strong plus.
• Cloud awareness: basic understanding of cloud platforms (AWS/Azure/GCP) and deployment concepts.
• Interest in finance, fintech, or other knowledge-intensive industries.
• Enthusiasm for agentic AI and a willingness to learn and grow within this fast-evolving space.
• Comfort in customer-facing settings and an eagerness to translate ambiguous business problems into working technical solutions.
